YONGSAN, South Korea —
United States Forces Korea, in collaboration with the Department of Defense Education Activity Pacific West District, has announced both Seoul American Elementary and Middle/High Schools will close at the end of School Year 2018-2019.
주한미군 사령부는 미 국방부 산하 서 태평양 교육 담당처와 공동으로 용산 미군기지에 있는 서울 아메리칸 초등학교 및 중/고등학교를 2018-2019년도 과정을 마지막으로 폐교 할 것이다.
The decision and request by the command to no longer operate schools in Seoul is based on the pace and requirements of the Yongsan transformation efforts.
본 폐교 결정은 용산 미군기지 반환의 진행 속도와 요건을 충족 하기 위한 노력의 일환이다.
“USFK and DoDEA leadership will continue to work together to ensure our military families receive the best available support during the upcoming changes to DoD schools in Korea,” said Col. Chad Carroll, USFK spokesperson. “Everyone involved in the Yongsan transformation efforts are committed to ensuring our military children get the best possible education while maximizing resources.”
주한 미군 대변인, 채드 캐롤 대령은, “주한미군과 미 국방부 산하 교육처 지도부는 곧 있을 변화에 군 가족들이 최고의 지원을 받을 수 있도록 지속적으로 함께 노력해 나갈 것이다.” 라며 ,“용산 미군기지 이전 사업의 모든 관계자들은 군 자녀들이 최고의 교육을 받을 수 있도록 전념하고 있다.”라고 하였다.
Along with transitioning eligible school-aged children into schools at Camp Humphreys, DoDEA will provide educational services to eligible dependents via the Non-DoD School Program (NDSP), which will provide access to a wide-range of high-quality education options in the Seoul area.
미 국방부 산하 교육 담당처는 취학 적령기의 자녀들이 캠프 험프리스에 위치한 학교로 전학을 진행 함과 동시에 미 국방부 대체 학교 프로그램을 통해 자녀들이 서울 지역에서 양질의 교육을 받을 수 있는 기회를 제공할 것이다.
The Pacific West District Office will hold a meeting for all Yongsan school parents at the Seoul American Middle/High School auditorium at 4:30p.m. on Nov. 28, 2018, to share more information regarding the closure, educational options for remaining families, and the transition of students to Camp Humphreys.
미 국방부 산하 서 태평양 교육 담당처는2018년 11월 28일 오후 4시 30분, 서울 아메리칸 중/고등학교 강당에서 폐교, 서울 잔류 인원들의 선택사항 및 캠프 험프리스 기지 내 학교로 전학과 관련된 정보를 공유하기 위한 간담회를 개최 할 것이다.
